Barbara S. Fox, Ph.D. – Vice President, Research and Development
Dr. Fox is currently the founder and CEO of Avaxia Biologics, an early stage biotechnology company developing oral antibody therapeutics for diseases where the targets are accessible through the GI tract. Dr. Fox received her BA in Chemistry from Bryn Mawr College, her PhD in Chemistry from MIT and her post-doctoral training in cellular immunology at the NIH. She served on the faculty of the University Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, rising to Associate Professor of Medicine with tenure in the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, Dept. of Medicine. She moved to ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical Corp. in 1993, rapidly advancing from Senior Scientist to VP Discovery Research. In 1998, she founded Recovery Pharmaceuticals, a company developing and marketing medications for the treatment of addiction, where she served as President and CSO. Dr. Fox was an Affiliated Entrepreneur at Oxford Bioscience Partners and worked as a consultant for a range of biotechnology companies before founding Avaxia in 2005.
